The Great Lie
The Great Lie
What unites all people is the pursuit of happiness. We all want it, we all crave it.
What separates us, is how we go about obtaining it. And its here where we can be led astray.
I call it, the great lie.
It started all the way back at creation, and its still hurting and deceiving people to this day. And it will never end.
So what is the lie? Its simple really. Its predicated on one simple phrase.
I if had this, I'd be happy.
It sounds so innocent, but it devastates like wild fires and it ruins lives.
We've all fell for it. I need the next smart phone. And then we have it in our hand, but nothing. Just a hollow feeling of satisfaction that quickly fades. Then we have to have a new watch, and a new tablet or laptop, and then on to the next thing.
This car or that house, this name or that job, these labels and pronouns. And it never ends, and the chase never makes you happy for long.
So what will? What thing do I need?
That's just it. Its not a thing at all. It comes from within you. Its a relationship... with your father.
The one who lovingly made you is the one who can make you happy, and He wants you to be.
Happiness comes from an intimate relationship with God. And when you have that, you'll realize that nothing else will do.
